Upright Pose Lie On Your Stomach

Pelvic relaxantGet into the baddhakon asana. Sit on the floor with your legs straight in front of you.Variety is the spice of life and what better way to experience it than yoga? In keeping with the changing times, the latest innovation in the arena of yoga is yoga with sticks also famous as “danda-yoga”. It helps asthma patients. Press your hands on the floor a little behind your hips, fingers pointing toward the feet, and strengthen the arms. Here’s everything you need to do.
Curvy twistGet into the cobra position or bhujang asana, and keep your back straight and hold the danda as further above your head as you can, arching your spine, and maintain the pose breathing in and out, for at least 30 seconds. Breathe in and out. This helps stretch your abs and glutes, and also gives your spine a stretch.Upright poseLie on your stomach with your feet shoulder width apart, and hold the danda with both hands in less than arms distance from your face. Press the soles of your feet together while holding the danda between your feet and sit straight, with the spine erect. Keeping your weight on the danda, lift your upper torso with the face up, repeat 10 times. Exhale, bend your knees, pull your heels toward your pelvis, then drop your knees out to the sides.
Breathe in and out deeply for half a minute or more. Danda yoga primarily aims to re-construct a strong core in the body of a healthy yogi. Aside from being fun and engaging, yoga with sticks is recommended for people who already have a certain degree of fitness, are strong and athlete, and is not meant for first-timers. Repeat a few times.— The writer is an actress and an expert yoga practitioner. Sit on the “tripod” of your two sitting bones and tailbone, and place the danda at the centre of your body, length-wise and balance for half a minute or more holding it with your feet together. Sit with your legs in a squat out in front of you, raising your pelvis on a blanket if your hips or groins are tight. This is very good for neck problems, and builds the core of your triceps as well. Hip flexorAn ab and deep hip flexor strengthener, Paripurnanav asana requires you to balance on the tripod of your sitting bones and tailbone. Lift through the top of the sternum and lean back Resistance band外部リンクslightly

She does feel strongly about natural beauty

” She adds “ I follow a healthy diet and am particular about my intake of ghee, curd and butter. “I eat healthy — I have never been fond of eating oily food right since childhood. My diet consists of a lot of salads — I liberally include a lot of fruits and vegetables in every meal. Which means no Botox or fillers for me. I follow the Jane Fonda exercise, which is meant for seniors, and of course, yoga. Personally, this has helped me a lot.In Chennai, while actress Trisha Krishnan may make heads turn, the year has been very special for her mother Uma Krishnan who turns 60 in a month’s time. I do not like the irritating pain that threading the eyebrows or waxing causes. I have never used soap on my face till date. I hit the gym everyday for an hour and if I don’t, then I go for a walk. Genes have a lot to do with how you or your kids look, but maintenance of skin, body and mind go hand in hand and will give you the radiance you have always dreamed of. I have always had a good complexion,” she shares. I have been doing yoga long before variants like power yoga became popular. It is always better to avoid such methods. Apart from the glow you get, it’s a real stress buster. Personally, I don’t like Botox or fillers because I think it drastically changes the shape of your face. They don’t believe in messing with Mother Nature. I work out, eat right and regularly pamper my skin.”

She does feel strongly about natural beauty and not really keeping up with the Kardashians, so to speak. If you keep yourself active and fit, the rest will fall into place.” Endorsing this principle and keeping it simple by going back to the roots is Hyderabad’s Indira Subbarami Reddy. “Since my childhood, I have always applied fresh ground almond paste on my face for a minimum of 30 minutes before taking a bath. I do yoga and meditation too. I would always use moisturiser and lotions liberally on my face and body. Since I am a vegetarian I also include fish oil capsules in my diet. Uma spills her beauty secrets and says, “I believe in growing old gracefully. It can be any form, be it gymming or yoga or a walk. Maybe I’m blessed with good genes.”On artificial beauty enhancement methods that many senior women resort to, she opines, “I do not support any kind of artificial methods China MINI BAR refrigerators外部リンク of beauty enhancement such as botox or surgeries. And, they still look beautiful with minimal make up — the true hallmark of natural beauty Bengaluru-based Anita Faria, former Miss Earth Nicole Faria’s mother, always seems to get a bevvy of admiring glances from people. Kerala’s Sreekumari Ramachandran is a woman who wears many caps.” The 59-year-old adds, though, that stress is one factor which will affect your looks “I de-stress through exercise. My skin regimen consists of regular facials, eating nutritious foods and working on my facial muscles through various daily exercises. I personally have not done it.”With inputs from Suruchi Kapur-Gomes, Deepthi Sreenivasan, Anupama Subramanian, Julie Sam. I prefer keeping my skin supple by using a light oil. When asked about her beauty secrets, she says, “I am someone who does not even visit the beauty parlour except for trimming my hair. We asked her about this new fad of unnatural beauty techniques and the beautiful mama said, “I have always maintained my skin from the time I was a little girl. At the first sign of a wrinkle, many 40-plus women turn to botched-up Botox jobs, only to end up with frozen faces. I make it a point to wash my face with moong dal powder and that’s it. She says, “People are doing surgeries, Botox and fillers because they are either unhappy with how they look or want to look younger or enhance their features.Genes continue to be the overriding factor in these ladies’ lives but sometimes, even good genes don’t help if your lifestyle is all wrong.

Also, my doggies Zoya and Zorro keep me active. I only go for a facial massage once in two months. Gorgeous Mumbai-based actress Suhasini Mulay endorses this belief. She is an entrepreneur in her late 60s and is living proof that age is just a number. When I feel my skin’s looking tired, I take 12 neem leaves and have those with turmeric.Growing old gracefully is not about desperately resorting to facial surgeries to de-accelerate the aging process. She is a writer, dancer, singer and an orator along with being a perfect example of timeless beauty. Also, I stay away from moisturisers. Of course, this is besides handling all of Trisha’s work related stuff,” she laughs.”On advocating natural beauty she says, “Why would I do anything that goes against nature I let myself be just the way I am. At the same time, there is a small breed of 60-plus Indian women who follow homegrown therapies despite their advancing years.

There is so much to do and so little time

At 97, Tao Porchon-Lynch takes yoga classes, imparts dance lessons and travels the world. I travel a lot to do special workshops at yoga studios and conferences — in the last three months I’ve been to Slovenia, Montenegro, India, the Bahamas. That led me to my work as a French Resistance fighter in World War II,” shares TaoShe continues, “Apart from the one or two yoga classes I teach in a day, I also take dance lessons in between at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Hartsdale, New York. In June 2015, I danced on the television show America’s Got Talent with my 26-year-old dance partner and teacher Vard Margaryan. “I still make it a point to teach one or two yoga classes every day.” I told her, ‘If boys can do it, so can I! So I did.”.”Tao says, “I want to continue to travel the world, teach yoga, dance and experience the beauty of life!

There is so much to do and so little time. But it was the passion for yoga, which she acquired during her growing-up years in Pondicherry, that has stayed with her all her life and has even earned her the Guinness Record for ‘The World’s Oldest Yoga Teacher.’ And it’s a decision that she has stood by all her life.A model, actress, producer, World War ICE MAKER manufacturers外部リンク 2 resistance fighter, dancer and activist—Tao Porchon-Lynch has worn many hats in her 97 years. But ask the nonagenarian who is based in the US about ‘the secret of her energy’ and she says.

It goes back to the simple things I learned as a child about honouring nature and the connection between the mind, body and spirit.’Tao, who recently launched her biography The Dancing Light at an event in Mumbai, surprised many with her vitality when she did a cha cha cha to a Bollywood number with dancer Sandip Soparker, who is not even half her age. My aunt was shocked and exclaimed, “Nonsense! That is not a game. Revealing how her yoga innings started, Tao says, “I was eight when I watched a group of boys slightly older than me on the beach making beautiful shapes with their bodies.”Tao was influenced by Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo and later became an associate of Mahatma Gandhi. That is yoga! That’s not for girls. “The 1930 Salt March with Gandhiji was extraordinary. That day, I hurried home to tell my uncle and aunt and tried to demonstrate some of the movements. I also participate in dance competitions.”While she only took up dancing professionally at 84, Tao has had almost a life-long relationship with yoga and spirituality.
